The strength of your word

Over the past few months I've had quite a few "AhHah" moments. One of the most profound has been to realize just how much giving and keeping your word can mean to someone else. We spend our days going through routines that include asking for assistance, being asked to attend or participate in activities with friends, co-workers and colleagues, and being given deadlines that require working with others. But what happens when you give your word, and that word isn't reliable? If you tell others what you think they want to hear, offer to help, or agree to do something and then blow it off because you really had no intention or it doesn't "fit" into your plans, your credibility diminishes and the trust in the relationship begins to unravel. In personal realtionships feelings can be hurt, and a general sense of being let down can begin to develop.

Take the time to consider what's being asked and honestly respond. You'll see that your word carries more meaning and has a greater impact on those around you. It strengthens your character and reflects positively on your credibility. It also brings a deeper level of trust to all your relationships and interactions with others.
